Tracer-based Rapid Anthropogenic Carbon Estimation (TRACE)¶
TRACE estimates ocean anthropogenic carbon (Canth) from user-supplied coordinates, salinity, temperature, and year. It implements the inverse gaussian transit time distribution (IG-TTD) method to increase accessibility, repeatability, and speed of Canth estimation.
TRACE is available for Python and MATLAB, and is one of a family of ocean state estimation routines, developed in parallel with ESPER and PyESPER. Users seeking estimates of present-day TA, DIC, pH, phosphate, nitrate, silicate, or oxygen should use (Py)ESPER.
TRACE is designed to be easy to install and use in your scientific workflow, but that doesn't mean it actually is easy (yet). We welcome feedback and contributions!
TRACE is an evolving product which will incorporate new hydrographic observations and parameterizations as they become available to improve its estimates. Check out the version history for more information.
